Does anyone know where the hour meter would be on a 1997 Shabah 198 with the mercruiser 5.7L carb engine.

I had the exact same boat! Love it! Some of the options on this boat don't include an hour meter depending on the package you get! We all know they come with just about everything. But some package are more extensive. Mine was not. I looked for ever and never found one. They told me you might be able to hook it up to a computer but I never for a com input to check so I doubt it. You probably just dont have one if its not on the dash! Hope this helps!

There won't be any computer on a carbed engine. The hour meter will either be in the dash, somewhere in the engine compartment, or it may not have one at all.

Thanks guys. I haven't picked up the boat yet as it was a repo and the bank is taking some time releasing it. I went over and checked it out again Tuesday, but I didn't see an hour meter, so I figured I would ask. I should have it by the end of the month.

Hyperryd, I have a 97 - 198SE, no hour meter on our boat. I've purchased one last summer, just never got around installing it. Best of luck with your new purchase.
