Default Shabah 201 - How to siphon gas

I made the mistake of filling my boat's tank to the brim. When we take it out we rarely have the motor running more than 30 minutes.

So I decided to Siphon some gas out to bring down the weight and have a few tanks of gas to use around the house.

I have a 8 foot siphon hose, I pushed it down in the tank about 4 feet and seemed to hit a dead end and I did not hit gas. Is there a screen or something blocking the way to the tank.

The best laid plans.

Yes there is a check valve. The best way is to access the fuel sender unit & remove it then siphon fuel out. Dont create any sparks though....
