Default No Horn!

Hey everybody,
Well, I went to pick up my boat last weekend and man do I love that thing. I dont have any pictures yet because up here in Minnesota, its still kind of winter here. Trust me, I will get some up ASAP. Anyway, a couple of questions. My horn doesnt work. The button(switch) lights up when I push it but nothing happens. I am assuming that the horn itself is no longer working. This may be a dumb question, but is the horn on the starboard side of the boat. I found an oval plate, pulled that off and it appears to be the horn but not sure. Anyway, if this is the horn, anyone know if its possible to put in a new one? How labor intensive is it? Could I do it myself? Any thoughts would be great.
Secondly, unfortunately, I have to trailer this boat to use it and was wondering if I should get one of those braces that help hold up the outdrive. My dad has an old Crestliner with and outboard, and his transom cracked from the constant pressure from the motor. I know the outdrive isnt as heavy as a full outboard motor, but there still has to be some pressure there. If anything, on the hydraulics to lift the outdrive up and down. What do you all think? Does anyone have one of these? Thanks everyone.

    Hi cholschlag,

As for your out drive, there is no need for any bracing while trailering your Mariah. When we purchased our Talari, I towed it over 1800 miles straight to bring it home without any braces or movement from the out drive. The funny part was; it turned out to have a bad ram too.

Besides, I bet you could grab hold of the skeg and tilt your father’s outboard right up. If you can, imagine the stress on the transom if you were to just drop it. Well, that’s what happens to a lot of outboards if they aren’t braced when you hit bumps in the road while trailering. Your out drive on the other hand, can’t move, it’s held firmly in place by a set of hydraulic rams, so unless they spring a leak or the out drive hits something with extreme force, it isn't going anywhere
