As far as performance options go, you'll find more for the small and big block v8 engines rather than the 4.3L V6. You might be better off to just deal with your existing engine and plan for your next boat to have a larger motor.

Right now the only thing I can think of would be a K&N flame arrestor, and maybe a set of headers if they even exist for the V6. Stainless headers usually run around $1500, and the K&N flame arrestor will probably set you back $50 or so. The two largest supercharger manufacturers (procharger and whipple) don't even make a kit for the Mercruiser V6. I really think you might be out of luck when it comes to aftermarket performance accessories for the V6. Sorry! If it was me, I'd save the money, put it in the gas tank of the 4.3L and just enjoy it as much as possible, or save it for your next Mariah boat (with a V8, if performance is what you're really after).

Re: 4.3L Vortec

Well I believe I have come to some sort of a conclusion. If it does in fact have a four barrel carb I am going to go with a throttle body spacer and a K and N fireshield. I will finish with new manifold with a 4" rise. That should do it. I believe that will maximize this engines possibility. Oh yes it does also have the vortec heads.

Re: 4.3L Vortec

DO NOT GO WITH A TB SPACER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the biggest waste of money. Independent studies have shown they do not improve HP, TQ, or fuel mileage.

Ok I will scratch that off the list thanks.

Re: 4.3L Vortec

No problem. All the TB Spacer claims got me all excited until I started researching about them. It has been over a year since I researched this but our boat engine is a GM truck engine. Which brings up my question... can we install a new performance cam that was meant for a 4.3L truck engine?

Re: 4.3L Vortec

I would think the cam should be interchangeable between conventional 4.3 and mercruiser 4.3. I only hear things about over powering the hull. Making too much horsepower seems to be bad. I dont want to go over 225hp.

Having cleaned the spark arrestor on my 4.3, I have a hard time believing the K & N version would be that much less restrictive. I am a firm believer in K & N filters and have them on all my vehicles, but I'm not sure if the benefits would be that great even for just $50.

For cams, I love the folks a Comp. I've run a few different cams in car engines. Give them a call and see what they recommend
COMP Cams: 262 c.i., 4.3L 80'-97'
