I have a 97 Talari Z216 with LX5.7 Closed cooled engine. The plastic pulley finally gave out. The parts guy at my marina sold me an up grade kit as the old 807728 pulley is no longer available. The new pulley is a 861578. The old pulley had a teeth on the inside to tie to the shaft. The new one has a smooth receiver. Am I missing a part or did they give me the wrong one? Thanks in advanced!

I did a search for that part and it looks like they may have given you the wrong part. Part #807728T was superceded by part #807728-1. It is available here: http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/merc/M-807728T.html

The one you have may work. Then again it may not. Talk to your part supplier and see if they can get part #807728-1 for ya. If not you can always try online.

Power Steering Pulley

Carbed or EFI is same pulley.
It is 5 3/4" diameter
Count the grooves and head to the junk yard to find one
