ok, I might get some gruff for this but I don't like the checkered flag on my 302. I peeled a couple of stickers off and noticed a little color difference from fade Im guessing. Anywho, maybe this has been brought up before but is there someway to remove the stickers and buff to match rest of boat? Maybe this is just a silly question... Anybody? lol

"Easiest way" to remove graphics is to use a hair dryer to heat the graphic a section at a time and then peel it off slowly. After getting off all the graphic, use some petroleum distillate (WD-40) to remove the remaining glue then buff and wax. It will have a witness mark where the graphic was located as the UV light will have not had the chance to fade the area under the graphic.

I did the same thing earlier this year. I used a heat gun, and acetone to remove the adhesive. It is a time-consuming process, but the look was worth it. See pics below (and ignore the scum line, it was there only for bottom painting purposes)

I did have the same issue with the "ghosting" and after a few coats of polish & wax, it was much less noticeable. Now, 3/4 of the way thru the season, the ghosting is starting to come back a little more, and you can start to read the old name on the sides. I read on a few sites about wet sanding making a difference, but I'm very hesitant to do that just yet. I'll probably research it over the winter and see what options there are.

I have done the wet sanding before. I was reluctant to at first but I figured the scuffs looked worse than sanded gelcoat. I started with 1500 and it did not take much. Ended with 2500 or 3000- I cant recall. After it was sanded I did some spot buffing with a cutting creme, polish and wax. (I dont think the cutting creme was needed). I cant even tell where the scuffs were before the process. They were in plain sight too.

I wet sanded that whole boat when I got it. Started with 1500 then 2500 like moto did.
But wasn't to worried about doing it. Cause I've done many cars an a few other boats in the pass. It's a lot of work just cause of the size of her height and length. Like 120 hrs. I went and got a small roll around scaffold...
I'll go by the shop in the morning and get the name on the polishing compounds I used after wet sanding.
