hi, i'm looking at a 2000 mariah 238 shahbah and have found about 2 inches of water in the cabin floor, also lockers underneath cabin seats full of water. the boat has been tied to jetty for about 6-8 weeks. notice batteries are also flat. would this be a normal occurrance? thanks dave

Hi Dave, seems like your post got past all of us... Sorry for that! Anyway, welcome to the club!

As for the water and the batteries, without more information, it hard to say whether it's normal or not.

If the Shabah was dry when it was tied to the jetty and it hasn't rained, then it would seem to indicate a small leak of some kind. Now if it was out and about before being tied up, well ....

Take our Mariah for example, when we go out, the kids like use the SunPad for doing cannon balls over the side into the water, then they get back on soaking wet and jump in again, over and over. Add the fact our floor and bow coolers are full of melting ice, we end up with quite a lot of water inside the boat. I run a manual pump so when I hit the switch, it looks like our Talari is taking a major wiz in the lake, at least that's what I tell the kids...(ew)... get's them in the boat real quick and it's good for a laugh!

The flat battery is probably due to the bilge pump cycling all the time (the new pumps automatically cycle on and off and have been known to run down batteries) or it was run down before it was tied up without enough time for the motor to charge it back up.

I'd say, the only way to be sure is to pump the boat dry and recharge the battery, then see what happens a similar time frame
