I got a 1999 mariah shabah 218 with the 5.0 motor and dual prop. I bought it used and the previous owner put a hydro foil and manual trim tabs. I notice that its very slow to plane. I will have to play with the throttle to get it to plane. Today we tried tubing for the first time and the boat wouldnt plane and get speed at all. Have any heard of this? The boat will do 45 once it gets going.

Unusual combo (218 with a 5.0L duo prop). Are you sure it isn't a 5.7L ?

"Have any heard of this?" Ummm, yes, numerous times. What pitch props are on your boat now? Are they damaged at all??

"Manual trim tabs" ?? Like Lencos or Bennetts or simple automatic tabs like 'Smart Tabs' ??

Self education will help. First off get rid of that dammed hydro-foil and read any of the STICKYS located at the top of the Prop Talk Forum
