Default Wet carpet

Hello everyone,
Happy boating to all of you.

I am the proud owner of a 1994 Z225, Zavanti, I think!!!
She was in a bit of a state when I bought her in 2016, but I’m steadily getting her sorted.

I have a small, but annoying problem:
There is a long, under deck storage space on the Starboard side.
I guess it’s for Skis.
The floor slopes downwards towards the centre of the boat.
The bottom is covered with carpet ands It’s permanently wet at the lowest inch or so.

She has a new “Camping cover”, which it pretty much water tight, certainly the cockpit carpet is dry.
Does any one have any idea where this water might be coming from???

Many thanks for your time reading this.

I've yet to find a boat that remains completely dry inside even when sitting on the trailer. Water just seems to find a way inside. I just cut out the lower 3-4" of carpeting at the bottom of my ski well to eliminate that 'musty carpet smell' and made sure that the drain hole that leads back to the bilge isn't blocked somewhere.

When my ski locker carpet got wet, it took a very long time to dry out. Even pointing fans at it didn't seem to help. Eventually it got dry.

This thread is getting a little old so sorry for the late reply. My 95 Shabah has a built in cooler in the bow along with storage lockers. For some strange reason these drain directly onto the carpet under the deck. For all the great design Mariah did this is the goofiest thing I've seen. I have a rule that no wet gear goes in the front storage for this very reason. I always leave the ski locker door open when the boat is stored to let it dry out.
