Default CO poisoning on boats

Hi everyone,

Here is some info I found interesting on CO2 poisoning on boats. I have run with my full canvas up but now I will make sure there is plenty of ventilation. The USCG reports 64 boating fatalities due to CO poisoning over the last four years.

Great point to bring up! The first modification I ever did to my boat was adding a CO detector in the cabin. If you're going to sleep onboard or spend any significant amount of time in the cabins, you should really think about adding one. Better safe than sorry!!

    Great post z275st!

Co2 is a silent killer and happens in the home as well. Since our heating system is central gas, we installed detectors in all the bed rooms to be safe.

I recently found out that in California, when you sell a used boat, it must have a Co2 warning sticker or plaque on the transom. ShabahZ250's right, you can't be too safe!

You guys are right, I have to much to lose to rely on what I perceive to be good ventilation. I’m going to get a detector also.
