Default website photo question...nothing important

Everytime I come to the site, I check out the photos of the boats on the top of the page.

I have noticed after looking at a few of them, along with other photos posted in the galleries, that some boats have numbers on them.

I am not talking about the registration numbers or the model designation, but other ones that look like they were put on as some other identification number.

I am assuming the numbers are simply ones set up my the person's marina for storage or something.

the examples I could find so far are threejake's 2000 182 Shabah...has what looks like L51 in red on the side....and dudder's 2006 SX18 has DG735 in black on the side...

any thoughts?

Ahhhh ok, i see what you are talking about. I just refreshed till I found one of the members boats in question.

Give dudders a bit to chime in, he will tell you what that means. Maybe it means he is just "cooler" than all the of the rest of us.

From my standpoint tho, that is the registration for his boat down in aussie-world.

    Google image finds:

    Dudders other boat? ....

I wish that big MF boat WAS mine, but I wouldnt even be able to afford the fuel for the day in that beast.

Those ugly numbers on the side of my boat are the registration code, and that is the size we HAVE to have. I hate them, takes away the nice lines of good looking boats.
It would be ok to have little numbers up front like that Caravelle.
Incredibly big sail boats here have letters & numbers half the size of mine!! Go figure.
We pay about $150 a year for the privilege of having them and Insurance for a year costs me about $550.

    thanks for the lowdown!
Gas is currently $2.73 US dollars a gallon here! Who knows what it will be in the summer though.

And hey, watch out for that giant iceberg heading toward you...they say it's like 55 square miles big!!!

    ouch.
Were running around .95c CDN / litre here in southern ontario which works out to about $3.35/gallon US with the going exchange rate & difference in the size of the gallon north & south of the border.

And....dont be cryin' poor! You own a million dollar waterfront home in Mandurah & you pass off your used mistresses to Tiger Woods.....

You should live in Texas Mikey, the gallon is bigger down there I hear.

Tiger (or do we call him Cheetah - these days?) is only bloody showing off, I havent seen an ugly mistress of his yet. Everyone is bagging him, I'm jealous.

I was thinking of heading south with the Mighty Mariah and grabbing that iceberg and use for all the Margareta's I intend to drink this summer. I should be just right.

I think you could make enough margaritas to last a lifetime with an iceberg that size!

Hello all... The numbers you refer too (L51) are the registration numbers for our lake here in Lake Holiday. All residents who use the lake (it's a private lake, hence the ID numbers) must display the numbers on every boat. They are the reflecting type, so they can be seen at night. They make them large enough ( and ugly too) so that they can be seen by the Security boat. In the summer boating months, the Lake is usually crowded, and if someone has a boat on the Lake without numbers, they can easily be identified by Security. The Lake is very nice, and we usually have some boaters who don't realize that it is private, although it is posted at every boat ramp. There is a limit on the number of PWC's on the Lake, and that makes for a more pleasant experience for the boaters. When we trailer the boat to some other lakes in the midwest, I always get asked if I race the boat, and why do I have such large numbers on it! We have enjoyed the Mariah for ten years now, and see no reason to stop. She's been a great boat, and reliable too. We use her for water skiing, and fishing, and just lazy cruising. Last summer we stayed in our Lake for most of the summer, with a weekend at the Chain of Lakes. Next year we plan to trailer her down to Table Rock Mo. for a week of recreation.
