I tore down most of the old boathouse because of extensive rot and decay. The only things left were the four original "telephone" poles that look as good as the day they were made 40 years ago. I left a couple old beams to steady the poles while the work was being done. Just enough is done now to allow me to use the lift. A roof remains to be added and maybe some partial sides later. The lift hardware is way overkill with everything being rated for 6000 lbs. Unfortunately I have no water depth to allow a cradle so had to settle for slings. The slings squeeze the boat enough so that I can't close the center pane of the windshield when it's lifted. No big deal.
