Pictures of my new Sony marine stereo and remote. The stereo has a built-in iPOD interface and an auxiliary interface that I have an XM Roady tuner plugged into.
The remote is waterproof and mounted above the swim ladder at the stern[; works beautifully and makes adjusting the volume, changing between sources, playlists or skipping tracks very easy.
The deck sends audio to two amplifiers, I have eight speakers and a subwoofer... sounds great!
The stereo area was crumbling so I reinforced the thin plastic with 3/4 inch plywood (thanks Dad!) and then had it upholstered with nice red vinyl. I cut out the openings with a razor blade and stapled to the back. I'm not sure I really like the look of the old black plastic bezel, but it does have the writing on it that I will never be able to replace.
I have a new 12v cigarette lighter adapter on order that will fill the opening.
