Z212 Engine Replacement

As I have mentioned before, I came to be a Mariah owner by chance, as a tired 1994 Z212 Shabah showed up on the local market for a price that attracted the attention of my brother and I. The engine had been left in the fall a couple years ago without draining, and consequently froze & cracked. I would like to tell fellow Mariah owners, if they don't already know, of a fabulous remanufactured engine supplier in Michigan Motorz. I contacted their order desk and placed the order on July 14th. The engine arrived at my shop the following Wednesday after some minor Canada Customs delays. It had to sit on the shop floor for a couple weeks until time permitted undertaking the swap. It was the first weekend in August which is a long weekend here in Alberta. My brother and I started Friday evening after the shop staff had cleared out, and by Sunday afternoon the new engine was purring like a kitten. We took it out to the lake on the holiday Monday to get some break-in hours on it, and then every chance I could get since then. I now have approx 15 hours on the new engine and have run it up to full throttle for breif periods. Everything seems perfect. The tired old Z212 has been revived! The great service, high level of competence, quick turn out, and knowlegable staff at Michigan Motorz has been a huge contributing factor in the revival.

Cheers All

Re: Z212 Engine Replacement

This is an option I am looking at, but its a bit more hassle to import into the UK. Anyway, I am in the exact same situation, freeze damage to my engine. What did you go for in the end, was it a long block or 'partial engine' from michigan motorz?

I would be very interested to see how compatible the new block was with all the ancilliaries from your old one, was it an easy fit, and what engine did you have before?

I am thinking of upgrading my damaged 5.0GL volvo with a 5.7L block, apparently its all interchangeable. Sorry all the questions, but when you are in this situation you need lots of answers!!
