Monster Tower
 

Anyone have any experience with the Monster tower? Looks good on the Mariah website. I'm looking to get a custom mooring cover done along with a tower. I'm not sure about fitting the cover with the tower up or with it folded down in the boat.
That was one of the reasons I was looking at the Monster - It folds nicely! Any input would be appreciated.

By the way, first post - New 07SX19 4.3 still under a tarp here on the east coast.

I'm honestly not a fan of the Monster towers whatsoever. They look like such an afterthought and just out of place on most boats. They ruin the lines of the Mariahs in my opinion. But to each his own.

I don't mean to attack you, just thought i'd give my honest opinion and feedback as it sounds like thats what you want.

I'll chime in as I have a Monster Tower on my Malibu Ski Boat. I purchased this strictly as a purpose driven product and not because of aesthetics. Quality and support were and are outstanding and the product has pulled on our boat for years. There are certainly better looking welded towers for a lot more money.

I leave my boat out on a boat ramp/pad on my property year-round as I only have a two well dock and it is currently full of other toys. I had a guy make up a mooring cover with the understanding it was to sit outside in all weather but never be trailered as I have an electric winch I drop it down the pad with on the weekends. I thought I was going to use Sunbrella but he recommended a Sharkskin product with proper venting as it would hold-up better in the rain and snow and still allow the interior to breathe. The cover was made to be put on with tower folded to reduce the wind stress and I also had it made to fully cover the sides of the boat as well as I did on my Z302 also. Just helps prevent fading and completely keeps the dust and pollen out which we have a problem with down at LOTO. If you go with a fixed tower, most have the cover made to snap around it in lieu of over but it can be done.

Is it just the looks - or quality, function etc? I checked into the Samson. They would need the boat, or would have to have fitted an SX19 in the past. It is a nice tower, and at twice the price it should be. I guess it comes down to custom or universal fit.
It makes sense the custom would be more expensive. I have some time, I can look into a custom tower fitted locally and compare.

Custom is certainly the way to go if price is no object. I've towed my kids starting at 4 years of age and weighing less than their equipment all the way to friends that are in excess of 250lbs behind my Monster. Never had any issues with flex or brackets. Extremely easy to install and very solid.

But again, custom is the way to go if you've got the dough.

When we had our tower built, the dealer we purchased from sent measurements off to Samson and 4 weeks later or so we had a tower and the dealer installed it in about 4 hours. The boat went nowhere aside from the dealer 20 minutes from our house.

I don't doubt the strength of the Monster Tower. I'm sure it is a solid product. But i'm sure the Samson is a much better product. The design is better because it allows for wakeboard and ski storage on the tower, has mounts for speakers, lights, and whatever else you want to install on it. It also has an anchor light so no more fumbling with the little stick light when it starts to get dark. Just flip your nav lights switch and anchor light comes on too. Overall, i think you would have to agree that the Samson Tower is much higher quality product than the Monster Tower.

I think looks should be a HUGE factor in deciding on installing something as big and noticeable as a wake board tower. You've spent all this money for a Mariah because you like how it looks, it's a beautiful boat. You could have just as easily gone out and bought a Bayliner that i'm sure is built just as solid, but you didn't because it's not a good looking boat. Same logic should be applied to installing a tower on your boat. It should enhance the looks of it rather than detract.

Now if you like the looks of the Monster Tower then that's fine, go for it. But if the decision to go with Monster is to save $$$ then you may regret that decision down the road and may wish you had spent the money for a high quality and good looking product.

I have a 2008 sx20 and put a monster tower on it and love it dont think it looks bad at all
