If I remember correctly, there is a plug with a straight slot on it for a screwdriver on the bottom section of the outdrive on the port side...

BUT . . . always take out the top (Hex Head with slot) off first, JUST in case you can't get the top one off after you drain it.. it would make it almost impossible to refill it.

REFILL - you must pump it in from the bottom, hand pump works fine, as this pushes any air pockets out that could happen if you were to pour it in from the top.

Have a great day

HI LHC Kirby, I believe you're referring to the Mercruiser outdrive.

Per the Volvo manual that IowaWing linked to, the Volvo drain plug on the rear face of the lower drive and to access it, you need to remove the props first.

I could not access that file (need to up my membership) but that is correct. I just pulled the props off and saw the little bugger - and my phone said I had a msg from the mariah club... and here I am. I am putting my boat in for keel work, and 5 other minor repairs around/in the boat and the installation of a keel guard. Before going to the shop, I took the props off and saw that drain, and knew I had to come on here and correct the info... which you already did. thank you
