Water blocking/exhaust flappers rattling!

My 2001 z250 has a Volvo penta 5.7 with “captains call” and side exhausts and the flappers are rattling intermittently on the right side only, usually starting past 2500 rpm. Is there any way to fix the problem without having to purchase new flappers? They are visually perfect and even when idling I have put my hand on the flappers and can feel that both sides seem the same. Maybe the rubber lip on them is worn? But in my mind that would cause them to rattle at all times. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Water blocking/exhaust flappers rattling!

Not sure what we can help with if you checked them and see no problem. I'm not familiar with those flappers, but maybe the pins holding them in are worn enough to allow the flapper to strike the sides of the mounting? or the rubber is worn off, but that would make noise all the time. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in with some suggestions.
