Lake Shasta 2014
Summer has found the west coast.
We are heading to Lake Shasta for a week on a houseboat 6/16. Of course with the Mariah as support vehicle :wink_thumbup: Any insight you may have for the lake would be appreciated. We have been to Powell before but not Shasta yet. The lake level is lower than normal although it doesn't look like it will be too low to enjoy. Anyone here frequent the lake? Your insight and advice is appreciated. |

Re: Lake Shasta 2014
Sorry, its just north of Redding California. I shouldn't have assumed everyone knows where it was.

Re: Lake Shasta 2014
Lake Shasta, due to the California drought, is only at 47% of its capacity....It's more than 100 feet below its crest, and according to today's report, it dropped another 1/2 foot today. We were there three years ago, when it was totally full, and it was big & beautiful....largest man-made lake in the state. I took us three days of boating to explore most of it. You're going to see lots of red, bare shoreline this year, so you won't be seeing it at its best. Just know that the experience is going to be different when it's less than 1/2 full as compared to full or 3/4 full. But hey, since you're houseboating, just keep the BBQ going and enjoy lots of cold adult beverages!

Re: Lake Shasta 2014
Hey there, Zack! How was the lake Shasta trip? Was the low water level a problem? Any photos? Did you see any other mariaha's? How was the house boat experience?

We live on a big lake too. You couldn't see it all in a week.
