Columbia river- portland to astoria

hi my name is Brent and I am in portlan or. and I have been wanting to boat from portland to astoria and back on the columbia river. I was wondering if anyone here is from around here and if they have done that.

I am hoping to make that trip next weekend and could use some advice and if anyone is interested in making it more then one boat. Would be cool to have a couple of boats going down.

Hope to hear from someone.

Brent

Hi Brent, A long time ago... I drove along the Columbia Rivers from Portland to Astoria and it's a nice drive but as for the river, I recommend you purchase a current Nav Chart of the river so you'll be familiar with any shallows or other possible underwater obstacles that could cause headaches for you and your Mariah. Another thing, if I remember right, there was a Nuclear Power Plant along the way, so unless you want the hull to glow at night, I wouldn't hang around there too long! :rolling_laugh:

Good luck and have a safe trip! Don't forget to take plenty of pictures for the rest of us to gawk at :wink_thumbup:

I too live in the Portland area and have made that trip a couple of times. It's a long journey in a boat your size. If/When the wind kicks up around St. Helens and near the Cowlitz, the waves get 3' tall and will toss you around a bit.
