We are actually planning our first trip there. You convinced me. Where do you stay? We were thinking about putting the boat in at Galconda and taking the river down. We have three boats going so far. Any recomendations would be appreciated. Thanx!!

Actually next saturday my and four other boats-24 guys (no girls :shakehead:) will be putting in at Rosiclare, IL and boating to K-Lake!
We will go through Smithland Lock and Dam, then up the Cumberland river through Barkley lock to Lake Barkley, and then over to K-lake. We stay at a private club with cabins that I am a part owner of. Moor's resort and Kentucky Dam Village both have nice cabins to rent. Also boat over to Light house landing just south of Kentucky Dam and it is a short walk to Pattie,s 1880's settlement for great food and mini-golf for the kids.
Buzzard rock on Lake Barkley is a good place to eat for burgers and they have live music often on Fri/Sat nights. Be careful on Lake Barkley it has many shallow areas so stay in the channels if you don't know the lake well! Don't forget to jump off the cliff in the rock quarry!:eek_animated:
Have Fun!!!:wink_thumbup:

Hi z275st, awesome pictures, especially like the cliff jumpers!

I gotta ask... what towable is that your dragging all around, it's so huge :eek_animated:, it looks like your towing part of the dock behind your Mariah! :rolling_laugh::rolling_laugh:

Yes, my tube is huge! It is a Great Big Mable made by Sports Stuff. It is by far the kid's favorite. You can give a nice stable ride for younger ones so they can stand-up or even though it is large you can still give a thrilling ride. I put four "tough" 16yr old boys in the drink with one turn last week.:wink_thumbup:

Here are some pics from yesterday at the lake.

I have made it in 4 hrs on a good run and 9 hrs on a run when we had to go through Kentucky Dam lock and wait for three barges to lock through.
Plan 4-6 hrs.
