Prestige trailer questions....

I'm wanting to do some maintenance on my trailer and need some advice.

I would like to switch all my lights over to LED, does anyone sell a complete kit with the tail, and 4 marker lights? (one of the front amber lights was stepped on and cracked when I purchased my boat). It has since came off.. and I haven't found one like it. I'd also like how bright LED lights are.

I need to replace the cap on my hub. I have the 6 lug hubs on my trailer... what would you guys suggest. I'm not sure where to find a black plastic cover like the one on there now (one is cracked in half). Anyone running bearing buddies or something similar? if so.. what size do I need?

Bunks... I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on Bunk Slides? are they good or bad for the hull vs carpet. Better yet... is there a way to jack the boat up and off the trailer so I can do work on it.. without the boat?

Winch... The little metal crank direction tab to forward/reverse my crank winch is starting to wear.. and I fear it could allow the winch to let loose if it continues to wear. I missed a chance to buy a nice electric unit from cabelas (with a light) new in the box for 49.99, is anyone running an electric unit? do you like it? what size do I need? Any suggestions on regular crank units as well? or where I may find parts for mine?

Paint... my trailer is a dark purplish colored blue. Any clue if I can buy matched paint and decals? I would like to touch up the paint and replace the wooden fender panels.I hate the idea of repainting the whole trailer.. unless I can find new decals. I'm also unsure how i'll paint on it with the boat on it? I don't want to leave my boat docked anywhere... I don't trust it setting all alone here locally. I don't have a way to cover it when on the water either.

Thanks again for the help!

Nick

Ok here;
1) goes led lights are brighter then reg lights generally and use less power. as for a kit not sure but a reg trailer wire harness with leds should work as far as I know just draw less electricity.

2) Bearing buddies I have seen caps at trailer shops rv shops and even Canadian tire if your north of the border.

3) Bunks have heard stories favouring both so I would say it's a personall preference.

4) The winchs last a long time but if you need one most trailer shops have lots of choice.

5) Paint if you have a decent body shop supply store near you they can usually make matching paint or recommend a good place for it to be done. As for lifting off trailer without a forklift no ideas sorry.

Re: Prestige trailer questions....

The hubs on the trailer are over 2" so I wasn't able to find anything locally. I'm not sure who actually made the original caps.. as they don't have a name or number visible on them. I think Overtons has some different models available. I think i'm going to order some carpet for the bunks and fender panels, or possibly order bunk sliders.

The winch on my trailer is a Shelby, if I can find parts I will just service it. The directional flip switch or whatever one would call it.. is chewed up along with the small gear. Shelby has parts on their website.. however they don't show the small gear. I went ahead and emailed them.. hopefully they can help me.

I've heard you can typically get marine carpet for the bunks at Home Depot and it's very affordable.

You can and it is I actually double wrapped my bunks on the trailer for my old boat when I replaced the bunks, softer for the boat lol.

Re: Prestige trailer questions....

I think i'm going to recover mine toward the end of the boating season. I just need to find a way to cover my boat while it's docked at a friends. I've never left it in the water over night, let alone uncovered.

I'm hoping I can do some paint work, replace the remaining lights/wiring with new LED units, and have the chrome (now slightly rusty in spots) wheels powder coated.. or painted.

I ordered some replacement parts for my winch from Shelby, along with a winch cover, added armored front marker lights (so that I quit stepping on the front and breaking them), and installed bearing buddies with covers. So really... just a little paint, carpet, and a few more lights/wires and it'll be good as new. I also plan on adding a spare wheel/tire.... just incase.

Wish you lived closer... it probably has some good parts on it if anything that you can sell.

the bunks look like they are new or recovered anyway and the tires and rims are new, other then that I would say not really. Maybe I can take the old bunks off and make some nice guides out of them. Well have I have 6 spares when I get the new trailer hopefully lol.

Some people just hang weights (typically sand bags) from the straps on their trailering covers and use that as a mooring cover.
