Using a boat cover support while trailering?
I will be trailering my boat at highway speeds and was wondering if i should take out my boat cover support. I just bought Attwood's boat cover support system. Here is what it looks like: http://www.attwoodmarine.com/UserFil...portSystem.jpg
I think it will be fine but i wanted to get your input. |

Hey dakotaman, I usually trailer my boat with-out the full cover so that it won't scratch the gel coat at highway speeds. :wink_thumbup:

Re: Using a boat cover support while trailering?
My support system has usually fallen down if I've been on the highway long with it. The cover seems more prone to fill with air, then the bottom of the pole slips out from under itself. I've wondered other people's opinion on this before too.
I have to admit another reason I don't do it much is because the lines of the boat, even with the cover on, still look pretty sexy without the support system up. :) |

I agree with rooperdan. Travel without the cover. The high speed will cause rub marks from the cover. Besides, let everyone on the highway enjoy the look of your boat, why cover her up?

Re: Using a boat cover support while trailering?
I was thinking having the boat cover would help with gas mileage...and i need all the help i can get. Last time I averaged 11mpg out of my truck's tiny V6. On my next trip i will make sure to tow the boat without the cover. Thanks for your input!
How do you guys remove the rub marks off the hull? I have them from the last time i towed the boat. Thanks again! |
