I Own a Hitch company!! Some of the questions I ask is how far are you pulling your boat on weekends and how big of hills do you have in your area. The Liberty is a short rig and you may get some wag going down hills. Short distances you should be fine. get a trans cooler it will help. If your pulling long distances I would suggest a bigger rig. I,m a jeep man myself but I pull with a Dodge. Make shur the trailer breaks work. And when you get it wired up make shur they wire in a reverse lite wire for the solinod on the trail if it has one. 200.00 for a hitch is a fairly good price. if you have any other question just give me yeal!!

Just go out and buy a real truck.....like a Kia Sportage or a Lada Niva. ;)

I had a Jeep Liberty two years ago and had a difficult time towing a enclosed trailer. By the way I just bought the exact same boat last year.....do you have any manuals?

hi John

Access to on-line manuals and brochures is available to contributing members. Click on 'Donate' above and all will be explained. Just realize however that the manuals are generic and offer little to no specific information on your boat.

No, I do not have any manuals for mine. Hopefully, when I get the chance to give the site bosses some cash, I will be able to access the information online.

Would like to see your pics.

Re: Jeep Liberty questions...

Well, I hauled the boat the other day for the first time and used my dad's 2006 Jeep Commander with the V8 and towing package and it did ok.

It was a little slow going up a large hill, but didn't seem to have too many issues with slowing down, even without trailer brakes, which I have come to find out that my trailer does not have...other than an emergency brake thing should it come off the vehicle.

Anyway, in the 5 short miles I hauled the boat using something much more powerful and longer than my Liberty, I definitely believe that there is NO WAY my Liberty would ever haul that boat any distance. In fact, I doubt I would be able to pull it up a ramp just to get the boat out of the water!

Anyway, thanks for everyone's suggestions and advice.

Looks like it will stay in the water at least for this summer. Maybe next year I will find a good deal on a more suitable towing vehicle.

Thanks again!
Patrick

We got rid of the Grand Cherokee when we decided to get a boat. I'll use my other Jeep, but I tend to lean towards overkill.
