Trailer vin ID

Having trouble registering trailer for boat I just purchased. Vin is vague at best and does not jibe with registration according to plate associated.

I'm looking for the 3 letter/number identifier for Chariot Marine fabricators, the maker of the trailer. It appears to be "4KM" from what I can tell.

Anyone have a chariot trailer they can see the first 3 digits on.

Thanks, Kevin

Re: Trailer vin ID

Thanks, that helps.
Would it be safe to say all chariot trailers would be similar or close. Except length 6&7 digits, check 9th digit and year 10th digit. Except for the 6 serial numbers at the end.
My vin reads "4KMTB2020T1". Does that look like anyone else's?

Re: Trailer vin ID

Thanks. Turns out guy I bought boat from, bought it in Texas from the second owner. Second owner never registered trailer after buying it from original owner. Second owner then sold boat to third owner(guy I bought boat from). Third owner moved from Texas to Arizona, registered the boat but never registered the trailer either.
So it appears I have a trailer that is still registered to the original owner, who AFAIK probably still resides in Texas.
This whole deal is turning into a cluster.

Re: Trailer vin ID

When I bought mine the prior owner never re-registered the trailer and simply used his old trailer plates figuring he would never get caught. Fortunately the previous owner (dealer) was still in business and i was able to get the transfer done. PITA but necessary.

Re: Trailer vin ID

After contacting the Arizona DMV, I was told to bring the trailer and all paperwork into their office to begin the process of getting a bonded title. Seems I have to argue my position to their satisfaction, that I didn't steal the trailer and in turn take out a $5,000 surety bond in case I lied or stole the trailer.
I suppose they do some kind of a national vin check or contact Texas to see what's up.
We will see. I'm going in tomorrow to start the process.
