Re: Challenger FPS: Has anyone ever seen one ???

Yes Jerry's 31 I in the pic was the first one made in 2005 as I had a chance to be a dealer for it but passed because it had a Ilmor engine in it and still does. I felt it would be a really hard sale being a one off at that time and an Ilmor engine. A year later Challenger made two more of the 31 I - one is in Canada as it sold from a dealer in Tennessee.

The 33 Challenger in the pic 4 sale in Mohave is from a car dealer who bought the boat at a repo auction. I drove that boat at the Challenger dealer meeting back in Sept 2007. In 2008 it went to a dealer in Oklahoma who could not sell it.

The Challenger 31 I design came from Harry Schoell who had boat / mold called Infinity with a pulse drive system. The 3 Challengers 31 I is a single step, single motor with a Teague Custom Marine outdrive (Jerry's Boat) and the later 2 were Mercruiser engines with bravo's outdrives.

Hey Johnny,

Got any more info on the molds changing hands you were talking about last September? Is it any closer to coming to fruition? Man, I would love to see the classic Z302 done again.

Look for the FPS 30 in the near future. And hopefully my name could be thrown in the mix again not 100 % in the works as of yet but smoldering. We all could say good luck since the new boat building and new boat sales are not breaking any records by no means.

Thanks!

Re: Challenger FPS: Has anyone ever seen one ???

I know the person who owns the molds and I know where they are located. It only has been talked about building these boats again plus how many and which models. When if ever building them takes place, its not up to me unless I bought the molds in which I have thought about. My problem is I am not that good at fiberglass work nor care to do it.

I would imagine it would be a large investment to get going...

2023 and I just purchased a 2008 Challenger 250FPS with 100 hours. I am looking forward to this summer on the Chesapeake Bay. I had reached out to the Challenger Electrical engineer and he believes there were only 4 of these ever built. Searching the net I have seen 4 different 250fps, the yellow/black, the all-black, the Blue stripe, and my maroon stripe. Do you know if any others were built? https://scontent-lga3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...3Q&oe=64175908

Very cool purchase, welcome to the group! Although it doesn’t say Mariah on the side we all know it really is a Mariah (mostly) haha. Post more pictures of it for us when you can! Many of us are curious about the history after challenger got the bigger molds but there isn’t a lot of info out there about it.
