Engine Options - 2010 Mariah R19.9

Hello Mariah people…

Considering a new 2010 Mariah R19.9 … questions about engine options:
4.3L 190HP (carbureted) vs. 220HP (MPI, Fuel injected).

…pretty obvious between these two, the 220/MPI is a better option. My question – the 4.3L carb’d 190HP has the edge on price, of course, but is it going to be a bad choice for a mainly water-sports boat (tubing, skiing, and some wakeboarding)? I'm wondering about botht hte lower HP, as well as the carbureted aspect.

I’ve driven the 190HP, it gets up quick and handles well in rough water. But only a few people on board, and no skiers. I’m wondering if I’d regret the 190 before too long…

How about fuel consumption? I’ve heard the Fuel Injected actually tends to do better even with more HP?

Dealer has an (apparently) attractive deal trying to unload their 2010’s to make room for 2011, which is why I'm considering the R19.9 w/ the 190 engine.

Thanks for any input!

Bailey

I'm a huge advocate of getting the biggest engine you can. That said... it really just depends on your needs and desires. See if you can bring a group of friends on another test drive, maybe even throw a skier out there if they'll let you (insurance may be a hurdle). If they really want to sell the boat, they'll let you do what you want to see if it works for you.

I've also heard the EFI possibly gets better economy, but probably minimal. Definitely easier starting and smoother running.

I guess it all depends on the deal and what you're willing to live with. Personally, I can't stand being underpowered in any instance and wouldn't even consider it if they had a 220hp sitting next to it.
