Crazy Labor Day weekend

We decided not to go out this weekend because we get to spend plenty of time on the water and there would be a lot of crazies out there. I live right on the water and when I got home from work Saturday about 4 the lake was boiling with waterbikes and boats. On Kaw Lake about 50 miles north of us there were 2 accidents with one person being killed and numerous people hospitalized. Alcohol was suspected to be involved. Imagine that!!! On Grand Lake which is about 70 miles east there were a couple of collisions. As of yet, no one has died from them, but there were people in critical condition.
We will try it next weekend. There are probably about 5 to 6 weeks of decent boating here in Oklahoma before the weather starts to cool....

hey Boxcar.....have the water levels started to drop down in Oklahoma yet? I have a brother living in OKC who has been complaining about high water levels all summer.

Water levels

Most of the big lakes in eastern OK are within about 5 to 6 ft. of normal now. It has been a strange year. We have been as much as 32 ft. above normal here and all of the other lakes to the top of the flood pool as well. We have been out a bunch and have had to stay in the coves and out of the main channels because of debris. The beaches have been mostly covered up, but are uncovered again now. Like I said, we are hoping to get out another few times at least before the weather changes. 60 degrees here is way too cold to boat in. There has been some serious flooding toward OKC this year.
