Smart tabs info:

http://www.nauticusinc.com/smart_tabs.htm

you can also search our board for info, they've been discussed at great lengths, and they seem to have very positive results.

Aha! you just beat me to it!

I just found the site and sourced them in the UK ( we always end up paying sterling for what you pay in dollars :shakehead: )

I am quite keen on this as a solution as it offers everything I need. I will read up more in the other threads.

Thanks for the help :wink_thumbup:

Any one got a SX18 handy?

OK, I have decided to invest in smart Tabs.

I have sourced them, and thought I would make it into a project for the forum....

But... thinking ahead.. I thought I would email Nauticus to veryify the correct tabs for my sx18.

They gave the following reply:

Quote:

We recommend the SX9510-60 for your boat, however you will need to check the mounting space available before you make this decision.
The trim plate is 9.5” wide and the actuator needs to mount to the transom 10.5” above the bottom edge of the boat. First pick a spot on the bottom of the transom to mount the plate, then determine if you have the vertical height (10.5”) to mount the transom bracket. If not you will need to use the ST1290-60. You can mount the tabs on the outer part of the transom (the extended area) which may be preferable in this case.
The recommended sealant is 3M4200 for the SX9510-60 and the ST1290-60. With regard to warranty - it has never been an issue, but since we do not build the boat it is not up to us. Check with your boat builder.
Great information.. so thanks to Nauticus for that... BUT unfortunately my boat is 90 miles away and so I cannot check the dimensions until I go there next yet I wanted to fix the tabs next time

So if someone has an SX18 handy.. any chance they could check to see if the will fit? I have a swim platform on the back.

Any help here would be appreciated

Dave

Thanks Johan for your help...

I have now received the Smart Tabs and I will create a Thread in the projects section leading up to a How to Thread when it is done.

The Tabs are on sale or return so I am hoping the will fit some how.

The more I read about these Tabs the more I feel they will sort out my problems. I just hate drilling my boat though.

So check out the new thread to see how I get on. :wink_thumbup:

Just an update after my 3 week vacation.

The smart Tabs are absolutely amazing...

I truly cannot understand why boat builders do not include them as standard.

They immeditely 100% cured my original problem of planing at low speeds and the bow rising alarmingly.

Even with 7 people on board and a lot of weight at the back... no problem. Also the boat hardly got into porposing.

All in all a really great investment. Now I am back I will get down to creating the how to with photos.

I will also give a better explanation of the performance gains.

Yes - they are great - really all boats need them.

I have now posted my experiences on how to fit them in the how to section.

I am now off for another weekend on the sea! I hope to get some photos this time. :wink_thumbup:
