2006 SX18 In Hull Transducer Location

Does anybody have the idea location for an in hull transducer on a 2006 SX18. i have played with different locations and am not getting good reading. the manuf. (Airmar) keeps telling me it is the location. Either hull thickness or not clean water under the boat while it is moving. Any thoughts.

Some members who have installed an in-hull transducer have had to shave the thickness of the hull where the transducer mounts and once the transducer in place, fill the void with epoxy. The transducer is normally mounted just in front of the engine.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know the thickness of the hull at that point. In other words I do not want to shave to much off.
I would think an angle grinder would do the trick but I do not want to compromise the hulls integrity. I though an in hull transducer was the better way to go instead of a transom mount so I didn’t have to drill any holes, I am rethinking that.
Thanks for the help.

Re: 2006 SX18 In Hull Transducer Location

Unfortunately I dont know the hull thickness of the Sea-Fox built boats but there is probably enough to take out a 1/4" or so. What i can suggest, if you haven't already done so, is to join both of the Mariah Owners Groups on Facebook and pose the same question there. Those groups are a lot more active than this forum and there are a good number of owners who have done similar modifications.
