Dual prop?
I've got a 2000 222. Currently it has a 24 pitch dual prop. I'm getting 55 mph or so with 4 people in the boat. It has great acceleration, but I'd like to get more top end speed. The boat has a new ram jet 350. Ive been reading the posts from people who are hitting 65 or 70. Are they using singe or doubles? Any suggestions?

Re: Dual prop?
Hitting 65-70 in a 222 with a 350?? Really???? Sorry if i'm sounding just a little skeptical. You might want to ask those people who are making those claims about their set-up. Changing props to get more speed means a sacrifice elsewhere and that usually means it will be slow out of the hole. The duoprop does cause slightly more drag but with much improved handling.

Re: Dual prop?
It does handle well, maybe I should just stick with what I've got. My old ski boat had a single prob with a v-6 and would get up to 55. I'm really curious what the differences are in a dual vs single set up. This is my first boat with a dual.

Re: Dual prop?
The dual props are for holeshot, like you've noticed, and dock manners, like Mikey mentioned. Just like a single prop, if you're hitting your max RPMs at WOT then you pretty much have it setup right.

Re: Dual prop?
From what I have read, the dual prop setups are a little slower on top end due to the added drag.... but much better at pulling and planing.
