New prop for 198SE Shabah
 

Was looking for a new prop for my 1997 198SE Shabah. It has 5.7L Mercruiser. Would like a prop that has good top speed but doesn't lose much when I'm pulling a skiier. What would be your recommendation?

What prop do you have on the boat now? Were you happy with the performance?

I believe it is a 21 pitch type prop (bought it about 4 years ago and don't remember all of the specifics). It is good for speed but very poor for pulling skiier's out of the water.

If the prop is a 21" and you're not happy with the low end 'grunt' then drop to a 19" pitch - 3 blade or a 20" pitch - 4 blade. Both will provide low-mid range oomph at a minor sacrifice of 2-3mph top speed and both should keep you within your mfr recommended rpm range at WOT.
