Prop Z252 Shabah question

I bought this 1997 Mariah Z252 Shabah with 454 single prop. Prop was gone, there was a spare prop that is 15 1/4" X 21. This is not enough pitch does anyone know roughly what this boat should have for a prop? Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: Prop Z252 Shabah question

Hi Farmer Dewayne,

You may find the 21" pitch works well, the Z252 is a heavy boat (almost 5000lbs without passengers or gear) and 15.25" is a pretty large diameter prop.

Hopefully another member with a similar setup will chime in, but if not, I would say, the easiest and cheapest way to determine the right prop for your Z252 is to install the spare and slowly bring your Shabah up to WOT (you don't want to over-rev if the 21 is too small).

Your WOT RPM should be between 4200 -4600 RPMs for the standard 7.4L, record your RPMs and from there you can determine how much pitch you need (every inch of pitch will change your RPMs by approximately 200 RPM @ WOT, so if you increase the pitch, the RPMs go down).

Good luck,
WetWilly
