Re: prop
5000-5200 is high. Mine won't even go that high before the rev limiter kicks in (right at 4800-4900). Just for added clarity, my drive is a 1.62 ratio.

Re: prop
i cant find my drive gear ratio. is it on the out side or inside of the boat.
i ended up going with a 4 blade 14 x 20. i weighed my options and will be doing tubing and sking and dont think ill be in any poker runs. haha. so i didnt mind losing a couple on the top end. |
Re: prop
It should be stamped on one of the silver stripes around the top of the drive on the port side (same strip as the drive serial number if I remember correctly). Also, I verified this weekend that my rev limiter kicks in at 4800.

Re: prop
i put a 4 blade 14 X 20p on. wide open is about 4500rpm with a top sped of 46 with 3 guys in it. it has a better hole shot, gets up faster and stays there at slower speeds. i am happy with the choice.ill switch to a ss 21p 3 blade if i need more speed.

Re: prop
Any info here would be great. I have the standard Merc 14x21P on my boat. I have hit 53mph by myself in the boat.. I am really looking to get a better hole shot. With 3 Adults and One Child she stands up on end for a bit. As soon as I put the two man tube on the back. I am limited to two people in the boat. I am running the 4.3L EFI on a 183.. I am looking to buy it tomorrow so any info would be great.. Are any of you running a 182 or 183 with a similar prop application? I am open to any opinions.. Thanks..:wink_thumbup:

Re: prop
I have a 1993 Barchetta with a 205 hp. I have a 19p at 14.5 diameter. I also have a high RPM problem. 5200+ just to get 45 mph (verified via GPS). I bought a 21p. However, I have not been able to try it out yet. I will go between the two depending on my mood. I will post my results when I have them.
