Re: Props props props
Hi Pimpadelic
My understanding is that the Solas props are like the 'American Motors Corp' of the prop world. They can do the job but aren't particularly good at what they do and they are priced accordingly. I'm not sure i would move up to a 21" in your case though. That lower level of power in the 3.0L would have to work hard to get the boat moving with a higher pitched prop. I would probably stay with the 19" particularly if your WOT rpms are within the recommended range. Just my thoughts though.... |

Re: Props props props
I'm currently seaching for a prop as well. I have the 3.0L / Alpha one in my 2001 Diablo. I was running the Michigan Wheel 14x19 3-blade aluminum prop until a stick bit me. I'm getting ready to send it off, but I am also considering a used prop that is for sale about 1.5 hours away from me. It is a Stiletto Overton'sŪ > Stiletto Performance Propeller 3-Blade 14.25 dia. x 19 pitch (ST10319)- it's used and he's asking $175? to buy or not to buy.. that is the question. That's why I have been looking up old theads to see what other 3.0L guys are running.
My Diablo gets on plane fairly fast with just the wife and I and a full tank of gas.. add two additional adults and the 14x19 is taxed. It'll run 3500rpm comfortably at 30mph though. Without anyone I was able to achieve 42mph (based on the speedo in the boat). I plan on investing in smart tabs though as well. Curious what others are running. Thanks, Nick |
Re: Props props props
The Stiletto should work on your boat. Just make sure it is hubbed for a Mercruiser and it is in as good a condition as claimed. Check ebay / Craigslist for comparative pricing.
