Digital depth gauges

I'm wanting to add a depth finder on my 180 Diablo,
but I don't really want to buy the traditional with a 6"
screen. Has anyone had any luck with the smaller
digital gauges? I'm looking at a hummingbird model
HDR 650. I like it because it will fit in my dash and
look as factory as possible. Just don't want to buy it and
have to replace it in a year. Any suggestions..
TIA

Re: Digital depth gauges

Haven't had any experience with the HDR 650 , but my Diablo came with a Lowrance 3500 and it worked fine til I removed it.
2001 your Diablo had a option for THIS depth finder.
Might have to do a bit of looking to find the right series , but it is the one that was offered as a option.

Yep, that's the one I've got in my 180 Diablo.
Mines fitted with an oil bath, through hull transducer.
works really well. even at 50mph :wink_thumbup:

Re: Digital depth gauges

that's great to hear, thanks for the link Larry. I believe
I'll go with the Faria. it looks very similar to the one
I was looking at, but I like the fact the Faria was offered
from the factory. And thanks Andy, I'm glad to hear
about the performance, I was afraid the first time I throttled
down it wouldn't read accurate. I appreciate the help guys!

You're welcome.
Although I will point out that at those speeds an accurate depth sounder is irrelevant! ;)
