250 Shabah speakers

I wanted to get more sound out of my Shabah and don't want to extensively modify it. Seeing as my Shabah 250 is not a Z model I only had two speakers in the cockpit area located near the feet of port/starboard seats. In search for more volume and all around good quality sound I opted to do my exterior stereo with Rockford's M282 components and an M600 amp. Putting in these large speakers was not really a challenge but it took some planning. I ordered the first pair and installed them without issue. Using the first pair as a trial period I decided if I wanted to stick to them or move up to JL M880 which per pair were outrageously priced. I also used the first pair to see where I might be able to locate a second pair. Their size really limited potential locations seeing as once mounted they require 9" of mounting surface and a considerable depth.
All said an done I ended up putting them in a location similar to the other rear speakers I've seen in photos and boats at the lake. I placed them closer to the seats to keep them protected from people leaning on them. After having the boat out multiple times I noticed that was a common area during docking an tying up to others that we occasionally leaned an put hips/thighs there for leverage or support. Its also kinda nice it keeps the rear speaker from being directly in a passengers ear hole... And direct sunlight of course.
The other thing I considered was building small enclosures for the two rears an hiding them inside the rear panel to deter thievery of any sort. I still have that protection from the seats which have to be removes to gain access to them.
With the 8" speakers I'm more than satisfied with the range of sound from lows to highs. There is really is no need for a cumbersome subwoofer and extra power sucking amp(although I have everything to install one right now). The bass I get from these has me combing over the boat to find little things rattling like the cleats and windshield snaps.

Don't mind the sponge Bob seat cover. I only use that to keep the vinyl from getting damages!!

I actally have the same model and considering the location as well. Thanks for the post I had not thought of there on the panel. I am considering the rear ski panel that faces forward hoping it would travel up the total side panel:

So far so good with the location of the rear set. If I were to use 6.5" speakers I could have located them differently but the ones I used are 9" around once the grille is put on them.
The difficult thing to mount was the amp. It would have cost over $100 in 4ga wire to place the amp under the steering column area. I wanted it out of the heat/moisture in the engine compartment as well. If I get around to it I'll photo where I ended up placing it. It was a major PITA to mount it. I used some scrap King starboard to hold it in place.
