Great job Steve! I have the same question(s) as WetWilly - does the platform come with all necessary hardware? Did you need to create the brackets yourself? What material were those shims?
I'll do a "how to" on this as well. Thanks for the info! |
indykoch,
Most all the hardware came with the platform. BTW, the platform had to be shipped to a business address, for trucking. Its HEAVY. I had to get longer ss screws to go thru the thickness of the shim pads I installed. Had to add the pads below the platform to avoid the body line of the hull. The shims are similar to material used as a cutting board. They were cut on my chop saw and predrilled for the screws. You can get 'em at the Depot. Some shims are supplied. I used the same material inside the transom as a backing plate. The angle brackets were also supplied. I bent them in the vise to match the jig. The ss support brackets are supplied. You just have to locate them in your application. My brackets were not installed plumb(vertical) to avoid the outdrive or transom cutouts. Additional brackets are available if you think there may ever be several kegs located on the thing, one nevers knows. Two brackets make it real sturdy. If ever I do it again, I will locate the platform 1/16" from the transom, makes for a cleaner seal. The most difficult thing is drillin' holes in your hull! It just don't seem right. steve |

Hi Brian,
Been following this thread with a lot of interest as we have a Z240 and the back of our Talari looks the same as your photos, right down to the trim tabs and I agree with the locker issue, we wouldn't want to lose ours either! :shakehead: So, if you do cut a hole in the new swim platform, will this affect the warranty at all  WetWilly |
swim platform
Hi
I cant see paying all this cash to cut a hole into it and then refab and not have it look like an after thought. I think they should have thought of this in their design. The platform looks really nice and we think it would be a nice addition but we have decided against it due to the cooler overlay. I could put this cash towards any reapirs i may need over the winter as i seem to loose drive oil and someone on here thinks it may be gathering in the bellows as maybe the seal has perished. Anyway we cant say enough of how much we are happy with the mariah and its looks for a 94. We fortunately have been out every fri and sat in the month of july and no one is tired of it yet. Thanks for responding Take care and safe boating Brian |
Re: Project - Swim Platform Addition
I know this thread has been going for a while but, I ordered a platform from them last week and it is shipping this week so it looks like they have added on some help, or maybe the summer is just a little slower for them. I had a color match done so I am doing two tone to match my color scheme. They did not have Sable and IVORY on file, so I had to send them color samples. Good news is that they should now have them on file for future mariah owners. I will post pics when I get it installed.

Re: Project - Swim Platform Addition
Hi Kylebsu, that's good news indeed!
Are you going to do the installation yourself? I ask because, it would be great to have pictures of the installation from beginning to end if possible. Thanks, WetWilly |
Re: Project - Swim Platform Addition
Hey WW - why don't you just tell everyone that I didn't do what I said I would!!!! :worry_to_laugh:
Yeah, sorry about my lack of pics and write-up. The wife went out of town that weekend with our camera and I was way too antsy to get the platform on. Besides that - I probably had too many beers during the install to figure out how to use the camera if I even had it! |
