I will also be installing the sea-dek on the factory swim step as well to make it look as OEM as possible

In hindsight, it would have been cheaper then the custom snap in carpet I had made.

Re: Winter Upgrades

2 pieces left on my engine project:

1. Heads
2. Pushrods

Picked up a set of Merlin "big valve / big port" steel heads today for a song and a dance. Inconel exhaust and stainless intake valves, 7/16" rocker studs, chrome moly guide plates, Isky springs and keepers (setup for .625" lift...Ill be running .612"...so a perfect match)

Spoke to World products Friday for a bit before pulling the trigger on the heads from the seller. Shared with them the parts Im using. Their prediction is 450-475 hp. They recommended I set the rev limit to 5500 instead of the factory Magnum 5150 rpm. They claim that the parts are good for 6000 all day long and at 5500 she will just sing like a bird in spring.

Waiting til heads arrive, rebuilt and installed to determine push rod length. They are local and are just a day away.

Re: Winter Upgrades

Rear seat is covered in foam, vinyl going on tomorrow.

Swim step design finished

Merlin heads arrived today. going to machine shop tomorrow. motor should be ready to start rigging next friday and installed any time after that. Kinda wish I had more time to dyno it. Love to know EXACTLY how many pony's it has.

Re: Winter Upgrades

New vinyl is always nice! Can't wait to see the finished product. As for dyno numbers, that would also be interesting. I know you posted all of your upgrades in a previous post but did you say you were doing anything ignition wise?

7 Attachment(s)
After we talked I started rethinking the all tube and came up with this
Then seadek is layer on top of the UHMW Attachment 4611
Attachment 4605. Attachment 4604

But the customer wife didn't like the tubes showing so it changed to be cover in fiberglass with the seadek set down flush in it.Attachment 4606
Attachment 4607
Attachment 4608Attachment 4609

Not to hijack the thread just some ideas

Re: Winter Upgrades

That's exactly what I'm doing. Mine will have an exposed outer tube frame and boat board/sea-dek flush with top of tube, maybe even slightly elevated 1/4". Mine will taper towards the rear and the ladder will be in the middle. We going back 36"

Re: Winter Upgrades

well not so much of an upgrade, but more a fix before detonation. 15 more days and motor & out drive are back together (happy) and connected to the boat. Interior should as well be completed. 2 weeks later the swim step (after the 4 of July)

I love that seat! It looks like a comfy sofa setup!!! Sweet rockers too.
Putting those in a stock motor free up any HP without adverse effects?

Some peps have actually installed 1.8:1 rockers in their MPI (non-magnum) engines.

YES...reducing friction wont give you more HP, but it will allow the motor to rev quicker and sustain longer runs at higher RPM's.

Compression, flow and timing is most that matters.

Re: Winter Upgrades

The push is on. Upholstery guys says Friday and it's all done. Out drive hung on boat yesterday, Motor to be installed today.

With all the pieces in place, hoping for a water test as early as Sunday, one last check for leaks, a quick detail and were off on a boating vacation for the week.

Friends and family are shaking their heads right now. "you took 6 months to build it all and now your putting it all together in one week"

Oregondunes 06-30-2013 05:32 PM

Re: Winter Upgrades

Drive is on, motor is installed, waiting on a couple of fuel line fittings and were ready to fire it up. Water test around 4pm for an hour, then interior, stereo/batteries and off to the lake Ill be.

Its been a bit of a haul, and this last week was a bit stressful to say the least

Up til 2 am this morning, found a fuel leak and need to install a anti-siphon valve and we should have ignition in about 60 minutes.

I would think some sort of smoked plexi would look good!

Re: Winter Upgrades

I was thinking the same but was afraid the heat would just warp or distort it, not to mention cook whatever was underneath it
