Fuel Gauge Removal?

Hi guys,

I am looking for some advice on my fuel gauge (Faria). Part of the plastic at the bottom of the fuel gauge needle broke of and is floating around inside the bottom of the gauge which is prohibiting the fuel gauge from pivoting.

I would like to take the gauge out and remove the face to take the broken plastic piece out. I started to work on this last fall, but I was afraid to pull the dash out because it wouldn't come. There seems to be some wire and stuff holding it. I think one of the wires I got back on was a gauge light wire. Also, how do you get the dash past the compass? I don't want to break anything so I'm looking for some tips and tricks or things I should do and not do.

Thanks,

Danny

Hi Danny, did you know you can send your gauge back to Faria for warranty repair? Click here.

If you can access the back of the dash, then put masking tape on each wire and write on the tape where it is mounted or draw yourself a diagram before removing them. Once the wires are removed, you should see a "U" shaped bracket holding the back of the gauge to the dash, it is normally held in place by two nuts. Remove this bracket and the gauge should slide out from the front of the dash. Don't forget to disconnect your battery before you start.

Good luck,
WetWilly

Thanks Wet Willy-I'll be working on it when it comes back from the body shop.
