Swim water temp guage
I've been wondering for a while if there is a gauge on the market to measure the water temperature. Not of the engine, but of the ambient water.
As the lake we're on is mostly fed by mountain melting water, the water temp can vary a lot just overnight. So I thought it would be could to have a temp gauge. But I want it to be more accurate than the standard water temp gauge as used for the engine. Any ideas anyone? |
Re: Swim water temp guage
Some of the newer GPS units and a lot of aftermarket fish finders have transducers capable of reading water temps. The only kicker is you'll have to install a transducer on the outside of the hull, which means drilling holes under your waterline. Just make sure and seal it up with a heavy duty adhesive sealant, like 3M 5200.

Yeah, not too eager on that. I was more thinking in the line of a simple gauge like you get p.e. for cars that tell the outside temp. With a simple sensor that I could 'stick' to the outside or so. Ofcourse I'd be happy if it looks nice too, but functionality is the major thing.
Getting a fishfinder/GPS for hundreds of dollars just to find out what my little toe can tell me is a little too much for me, It's just a nicety/gadget for fun! Nice project for when my wife is getting her tan on the deck and I'm getting bored;) |
Re: Swim water temp guage
Lowrance makes a Temp only or a combination Temp/Depth gauge.
Found the Temp Gauge only at Anchor Express for $91.99 plus shipping. |
