Radio Console Plates Possibility
1 Attachment(s)
Hello Everyone,
I am talking with a machine shop to see about making me a plate for my radio and switch console (as the thread with a link to the guy who made these has proven unfruitful... I got a response "Radio Bezels?" but he has not replied since). I was wondering if there was any interest while I am going through the effort to have them quoted. If I can I will get a few made, I am just trying to see if there would be any interest. Again at this point it is just a quote but I wanted to test the waters so to speak. Thank, Matt |
Re: Radio Console Plates Possibility
I might be interested these bezels look the same on my 97 Shabah 222 so assuming they fit. What is the cost per unit? And what are the chances of going double dinn ? I'm thinking about experimenting with android auto and see if the map function would be any good. Specially to save fishing / camping spots ect. Also be able to use the rear camera when pulling tubers/skiers for added SA.

Re: Radio Console Plates Possibility
I made a console from carbon fibre. Easy to cut with a dremel tool and diamond blade ($7 at home depot). The carbon fiber is 1/10" thick. I built a ledge on the inside to add additional support to the radio.

Re: Radio Console Plates Possibility
I had one made locally for my 96 Mariah Shaba 190. Designed it my self then had a local shop cut it out of stainless.

Re: Radio Console Plates Possibility
What I liked about the carbon fibre is that it is pretty inert with most anything you would have in the boat (Sodas etc) and salt water. It was really easy to cut also

Did anybody end up getting a few of these made? I am looking for one

Re: Radio Console Plates Possibility
I took the pieces of the old console and drew it on a piece of carbon fibre. Got the diamong cutter at Home depot and cut one out. Ordered the fibre online Protech Composites | Carbon Fiber Sheets & Panels | Carbon Fiber Manufacturer Its .125" thick and I made gussets on the inside to form a ledge for more radio support.

I had a console copy of the original. So it is not exact. Here is carbon fibre. Easy to cut and super strong. Needs a cleanup which I will be doing this week so I can take the boat out.
