Looking for a Horn

Looking to upgrade my weak horn with something that at least you can hear from the front of the boat. My horn is so weak I am having a hard time even finding where it is at (need to chase the wires I guess) I was just wondering if anyone else has upgraded their horn and what they used. Do I really need an air horn? Drop in or surface mount? Best location? I notice my uncles Sea Ray has the horn mounted on the outside by the driver.

Thanks

We use these horns in world wide competitions in our Ultra4 buggies. They are fricking loud !Trail Worthy Fab :: Loud Horns

The original equipment on my Z280 was a single trumpet style horn made by Ongaro
It is pretty loud for an electric horn. They are still available from Amazon and marine stores.

That;s my plan on mine Steve. The original trumpet is weak. Thought about doing a tri tone Nathan I got from the railroad. I already have a mounted compressor for toys. Why not put a small tank and have a REAL horn !

Mounted compressor? What doesn't your boat have Brian.

Brian - if your horn sounds weak, disassemble it and clean the point style contacts...it should make a significant difference in sound pressure level.

Firestone. The answer to your question ?
An engine that does NOT pop at WOT.
It's a small Smittybilt unit that is worth every penny. It's perfect for airing up the inflatables.

John: I can tell you exactly where your horn is. If you're sitting behind the wheel and you stand up, look directly below the starboard glass on the outer face of the hull for a chrome vent. The horn sounds through that vent. It's just a normal car-type 12VDC horn. Because Mariah advertised the 202 as their "Waterborne Ferrari", I went to Discount Auto Parts and bought the Ferrari style air horn and installed it on the same bracket that the old horn used. I think the new horn is a Fiamm.

Well. Back on the water and reminded me of the thread about the horn, but I do not have a grill? Could it have been where they put the tower?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...045e29aa23.jpg

It might have been where they have that tower leg mounted right below your vent window..... Zoom in on my photo for a black oval grill just forward of the cleat and the oval Mariah sticker....
