Re: need a trailer ???
That does not sound too bad. I have an aluminum trailer. I have not looked into them too much but what is the benefit over the steel trailers? I assume it is something to do with salt water...

ORGENDUNES A Z302 IS A BIG AND HEAVY BOAT.I HAVE A Z 272 7.4 BRAVO 111 WHICH I HAUL ON TRI-AXCEL TRAILER.( BOAT AND TRAILER WEIGHT OVER 8,600 LBS.) I LIKE THE WAY IT TOWS AND FEEL IT IS MUCH SAFER THAN A TANDEM TRAILER. I HAVE BLOWN A TIRE WHEN TOWING AND DIDN'T KNOW IT TILL WE STOPPED TO TAKE A BREAK. THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS BACKING A TRI,MY WIFE THINKS ITS EASIER TO BACK, THAN ARE OLD BOAT THAT HAD A TANDEM TRAILER.THATS MY TWO CENTS WORTH.WE TOW ARE MARIAH A LOT. GARY G :wink_thumbup:

I would agree with a triaxle as well. I had a 27' Wellcraft aft cabin cruiser before and it was on a dual axle trailer. For our Z275, we got a triple axle and love it. Very smooth towing(it lives on our trailer), and easy to backup, and I find it easy in tight spots. Yes, it might put a little more stress on the tires when really turning it super tight, but the added benefits of smooth handling and extra security on a blow out outweigh that. Just my $.25!

Re: need a trailer ???
I agree on tri-axle as well. The advantage of an aluminum trailer is mainly weight. They'll usually weigh a few hundred pounds less than their steel competitors. And, they do seem to be fairly popular in saltwater as well.
Another place to check out is Pirate Marine. They specialize in discount trailers. The previous owner of my boat purchased the trailer through them. It's a Loadmaster Sportline. |
