Alternator

I have a 65 amp alternator and Im thinking of putting in a 120 amp. Any thoughts or suggestions? The alternator is super hot to touch!!! I noticed the amp meter yesterday bobbing around 12-13... Boat was dead this am. Not sure why but charged it up and all was good. Maybe its a bad battery...

Re: Alternator

Test the alt , bet it has bad diodes and front or rear , or both bearings going out.:shakehead:

If you do go with a 120 amp, you'll need to put in a thicker gauge wire to handle the load or else you'll burn up the new one. Don't ask how I know...
