There was some discussion on retrofitting Captains Call in this thread:

Hi Z210Shabah,

There are several manufactures of Captain's call also called silent choice exhaust systems, so finding a system that's right for your Shabah should be fairly easy.

Here's a link to Corsa, they're one on the best known,

Here are some retailers from the internet so you can get a idea on the prices. Just click on the numbers:

As for the tips, it is believed this may have been an in house item.

Remember, your not going to see much of a performance gain but you will definitely sound louder if not more wicked!

Good luck,

Corsa Part Numbers

Sorry guys, I meant to post this a while back...

For my model (Z212), Corsa was the supplier of the diverters and tips. They sent me the drawings (attached). The whole unit was a "P210SB" and the price was north of $1300 if I remember right. Not quite worth it to me.

The diverter had a nasty offset so the exhaust would exit the boat in the correct place, making it a "rare" piece. Also, the tips are "different" from other boats. So you end up paying out the nose for the look of original.

For those of you able to use a "standard" diverter, but want the rectangular tips, the part number from Corsa is 11514U (70° angle).

Hey Ryan, I Have A 272 2000' Think Its The Same Offset??

indykoch 02-10-2009 10:31 PM

Sorry Gary, I really don't have any idea. The drawing I attached says "212 Shabah" in the title block, so I would guess they aren't the same. Corsa was very helpful when I originally inquired and I'm sure they'd provide the same for you.

GBRONNE 02-10-2009 10:42 PM

Hey thanks for the fast reply...dam, thats what i figured, ill call corsa tommorow, just found their number, have a good summer. gary.

Hi GBRONNE,
I have the 2001 Z275 that is built on the same lower hull as yours. There is a pic of the engine and how the exhaust cuts out the back in the gallery in the 2001 boats under "z275st's Shabah z275st" photos. If it would help, I could send you more pics from the sides.

I have a question about one of the Boats that appears on top of the Forum.

Does anyone for sure what year the Navy Blue & Ivory boat is. The guy driving it is wearing a light blue t-shirt!

I'm curious about the thru hull exhaust on it and was wondering if I could exit mine in the same place for my 95 Z 240 Talari?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike, talk about coincidence, I had the same exact same idea quite a while back...

The Mariah your looking at is a 98 Z272 Shabah that was put up on our gallery by ShabahZ250 a long time ago (I attached a picture of the back end of this Z272 so you could see the tips better).

These same tips are too wide to fit in the same location on our Z240's as they fit on this Z272 The tail area on the Z272 is about two inches wider than our Z240s (you and I both have the same model), the area underneath the hull along the transom is tighter on our Z240s and the cockpit cover top stored under the sunpad might get in the way as well.. Another thing to consider is the surface angle of that part of the stern, the Z272's angle is about 70 degrees where ours is much steeper.Perhaps you might be able to find smaller round exhausts and could have the mounting flange altered to fit the angle and with some careful pluming, get them to fit without any clearance issues in the engine bay. If your determined to try to fit those same exhaust tips as shown on this Z272, PM me, I just happen to know where a set of these same NOS tips are and they might be available.

Re: Captains call exhaust----

Sorry guys, I didn't see this string when I posted a new one the other day. I have about decided to put mine above the out drive in location where the Mercury cutouts put them. The only problem is with 454/502 location is right where the curve around the out drive comes out. I am purchased some flexible exhaust tubing from Vetas that says it is more flexible so it will give me the about 1/2 inch or inch I need to make the connection right. My other option is to use a flexible 45 degree to make it work. I'm ready to move forward as soon as the tubing comes in so that I can confirm it is flexible enough. I hate to cut 4" holes in my transom if I can't make this work. That would be bad.. Does anyone know of maybe a hose that is made just for this application. If there is one I can't find it.

I have a 2000 Z272 and I am interested in the Corsa captains call exhaust. Looking through the posts I see that there have been a few problems on other models. Does anybody have any suggestions for the 272?

Depending on where you want to locate the tips. If you want to retain the Mariah factory look, you run into a few issues. One being the width is which the tips are located in relation to your exhaust manifolds. The tips are approx 4 inches wider on each side the manifolds. So if you want the factor look, youll have to either have/buy some angled tubing or purchase the CORSA setup designed for our boats. Due to the lack of angle of the tubing from the tips to the manifolds, you have to run a taller riser. Most Mariahs were installed with the 3" spacers and are ready at any time to avoid the water reversion.

Other option is to place them at or near the water line like most are installed on other boats, parallel with the manifolds. This type of install has it's own quirks as well. First is our "boat in a boat" tub in the rear. Your not only cutting holes in the transom, but also the inner tub (same as the factory location as well). Most with "Z" models have a variety of options attached to that inner tub behind the motor right in the way of the location of those hole that need to be cut. It means you move stuff is all to make way. The advantage to this is the angle of your tubing. It's much steeper now, thus you can run a shorter risers and not worry about water reversion.

Ive been fretting over this very idea. Most will tell you that thru drive exhaust is good for up to 500hp, so there is no real reason to do thru hull, other then the sound effect and looks.

Re: Captains call exhaust----

Well first of all, thank you for the reply. That is about as informative as I could have imagined. I would go with the straight out option. I am not worried about it looking factory. So I'm guessing that the hole through the inner layer will have to be larger than the outer to allow the exhaust tubing to connect to the tip. It look like there is plenty of room many accessories that are in the way are pretty easy to relocate.

Yes I do realize that there will be minimal horsepower gain and the through drive exhaust will do everything I need it to. That big block just sounds so sexy unrestricted hahahahaha. The kit is about 1200 and I plan on installing it myself. I'm still on the fence..... Every time I hear a bout with through hull exhaust fire up I get a little closer to dropping the money.

If you are going to go out along side the outdrive instead of the more "factory" location, look around for diverters. Ive seen kits (diverters, wiring, relay, etc.) for as little as $500 in great shape. You'd only need to buy a set of tips with flappers (barely used or almost like new) for $200. Some hose and clamps and your in business if you can do it yourself for under $800.00.

Hey guys here my 2 cents worth.if you look in the gallery under 2000 gary g z272 i have pictures of the stern and of the engine that shows my corsa exhaust. There is someting about the sound of the big block firing up,brings the kid out in you. Spring is around the corner and when can here the sweet sounds of our mariahs running on the water gary g
