Z272 questions

So I am new to boating and Mariah. I recently bought a z272. What is the difference between the Shabah and barchetta? I got a great deal on the boat but it also is going to need some TLC.

Re: Z272 questions

Welcome aboard! Not a lot of difference really. The Barchetta may have had a little more 'sporty' look about it but the Shabah was the mainstay of the Mariah line from about 1994 - 2001. The Barchetta was made only in a few of those years.

Thanks for the info. Being new to the whole thing I was confused not to mention I purchased the boat from someone who was unloading it from a divorce ( she got the boat and he was the boater). I got a great deal but it is going to take a ton of elbow grease. I am very excited to have this site to help me with replacement parts. Already need a door latch and possibly a Bimini top and some new vinyl work. Attachment 5308

Re: Z272 questions

Congrats! That's a sharp looking boat! The Z272 is a sweet boat, a few ex-employees said it was one of the strongest and toughest boats Mariah ever built.

If you've got any questions feel free to ask, we're all here to help! :wink_thumbup:

I have the same Boat. 1998 I see Iowa sticker? I am in Des Moines if you have any questions. I too had upholstery work done thanks to a dirty raccoon if you need ideas?

Well I am in the quad cities. Good eye on the sticker by the way. I just ordered a few yards of fabric I am going to try my hand at recovering the corner pieces on the back bench. I am also I. The process of converting the courtesy lights to green LEDs as the interior is accented in green. Hopefully I get it done by the time the winter-spring we have been dealing with ends and I can get this big girl running out on the mighty Mississippi.

Good looking rig, jameyfah. The guys in here have been a huge help with my questions I've posted on here about my talari. I've added the leds on mine too but I went with blue and kept the original lights clear in case I needed them. Really enjoy my Mariah, I'm sure you'll enjoy yours too!

I'm working on some upholstery and trying to figure out what the original colors were available in 1995 for the z272. Is there any brochures out there that detail what was available?

Should be in the contributing members section also I believe shabah280z can give you info off your hull id number. Gary's upholstery sells Nautolex vinyl like Mariah used only better now. It's about 24.99/yd. The colorite line was the closest to my original grain and had exact matches to my colors. You can send him pieces of yours and he will match and send samples back to you. Or you can pick some colors and he will send samples. Gary is extremely helpful when it come to selecting vinyl. Look up Gary's upholstery online he's out of Tampa Florida and I highly recommend him.
