Power seat issues with 94 z190 talari
I was using the car wash sprayer early today and after I got through rinsing all the soap out of the interior the seat doesn't adjust. I hear the switch click in both positions (forward/back) but nothing from the motor. I checked the wires underneath to see if they came loose during the spraying process but they look ok. I looked at all the breakers on the dash board and don't see any that have been reset.
Any ideas from the gurus on this here sight? |
Re: Power seat issues with 94 z190 talari
Use compressed air on it , and around the seat motor-assembly. Don't go crazy , but air it out good.
Then try giving the motor a shot of WD40 and see what happens. It will dissipate the moisture that might be left in the motor. It will probably work in a day or two , but water ain't good on the motor. It's basically a "automotive" power seat motor that is under there. Lube should bring it back to life. Was it slow to move before you got it wet? |

Yes... Just because it's a boat doesn't mean you should be spraying water on the inside of it. Maybe as it dries out it'll come back to life.

Re: Power seat issues with 94 z190 talari
I did not spray directly under the seat nor under the dash. I have washed it previously this way many times in the 20 years I have owned the boat.
Colorado - When I first cranked it to pull it out of the marina I let it run for quite a while and pretty much checked to verify all switches but don't remember actually checking that one. I did all on dash and obviously the engine cover switch so I could check for any leaks. I think I probably did check it and the only switch I had trouble with was the trim switch (down) after I raised engine to the trailer position. But then I suffer from the CRS disease that seems to run rampant with some of us old timers! LOL. :D |
