1991 MX20 trim switch

New to forum
Trim switch went out today on the lake. Checked the switch with an ohm meter already. It's done, just need an idea of where I can get a replacement (factory/ OEM). Motor: OMC 5.0 HO

If you do a site search (top right corner of the screen) you will find that this question gets asked 2-3 times per week here. Before you spend money on parts i would suggest you troubleshoot the entire system. It will only take about 10 mins of your time and the instructions on how to do so will be found here.

If you determine that the trim swtich needs replacement, we need to know what shifter you have on your boat. Telling me what motor you have or whether its still 'factory' doesn't help.

If its a Quickslver 3000 then :
Trim switch #87-18286A41
$48.00 @ mercruiserparts.com

If you have a Volvo Penta throttle handle shifter then i believe the correct part# is 3856844

Perhaps someone else can advise on the OMC part.

Is the shifter OMC? Chrome handle , red trim button on T-Handle end , pull out on shifter for neutral?
If not your going to need a part # from the shifter housing.
Cobra shift parts are a real bugger to find these days.
I have a cobra shifter I was using for parts on my VIP boat that I used to own. I will dig it out and see if I used the trim switch or not.:)

Guess I got rid of it all when I sold the boat.
Is this the one you have?
Not to bad of price if that's your shifter.:thumbup1:
