Here's some more of the same. Mariah is safely stored in the barn!

Re: No Boating for a while!
Well, it's about another week until we get the boat out of the barn. Most of the ice is off the lake. Easter Sunday the weatherman is predicting 50 degrees, so that will help a lot. Can't wait! This time of year is always the hardest--so close and yet so far. This will be our 13th year with the Mariah. Where did that time go. Our oldest son has already asked to use it this summer when they vacation in Table Rock, near Branson Mo.We used to go to the Ozarks, and did so for 10+ years. This year the vote was for Table Rock, so we will not attend the vacation with them. We are going down to The Tail of The Dragon near Knoxville, Tennesse and then on to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.They always go where they can take the boat. This year we are going on a car themed vacation.

Re: No Boating for a while!
garyg--My brother-in-law, who lived in Stuart Florida, used to send me the same question, along with a picture of him mowing his lawn. I would send him back a picture of me sitting in front of the fireplace, reading a book, with the caption, "Too bad you're still cutting grass"!
Actually, this winter has been a mild one. In fact, the last two years have been mild. |
Re: No Boating for a while!
Table Rock is a lot slower paced than the Ozarks. They'll enjoy their relaxing trip, I'm sure.
Are you guys riding motorcycles at the tail? That always looks like a lot of fun. |
Re: No Boating for a while!
They said the water is clearer at Table Rock.
We are going on The Tail of the Dragon with 2 other Corvette friends. The Corvette Museum is offering the trip which includes the Tail and spend 2 days at the Biltmore Estate. It's a perfect trip--I'll love the drive on the Tail, and the wife will love the Biltmore Estate, everybody will be happy! |
Re: No Boating for a while!
We got a foot of that from last Sundays storm down here around Champaign. This time last year we were fighting from planting corn. Crazy what a difference a year makes.

Re: No Boating for a while!
Well, the ice is off the lake, and the Mariah is still in the barn. Over dinner Easter Sunday, we discussed when we will take the Mariah out for her first 2013 voyage. I'm going to set up the little (14') aluminum fishing boat first. We'll probably take that one out before the Mariah. Spring, and the mild weather is officially here--59 degrees Easter Sunday. At those temps, your thoughts turn to boating!

Re: No Boating for a while!
Our friends who went to Table Rock said that last year they kept their boat in the water for 10 days, and when they pulled it out there was no slime or ring on the hull.
It looks like any day now, we'll take the Mariah out of the barn. Let the boating season start! |
Re: No Boating for a while!
Like I said.... It is Crystal Clear..... Beautiful Clean Lake.

Re: No Boating for a while!
A little setback--there are 4 other boats in front of ours. We will have to wait until 4 other skippers realize that it's time to get their boats out before I can even see the Mariah! I'm thinking I should buy a new battery too. The one in there is 5 years old!! We took it out in the fall and it's been on the maintainer all winter. Just looked at the date now.

Re: No Boating for a while!
