shipping a boat overseas
This is just daydreaming but the recent thread about Nauti dog the Z275 has got my head thinking. (Not always a good thing ;))
This boat would be a little over £17k in old English, which is incredible value. And to cap it off Mrs B loves the look of it....lol the chances of finding a boat like this over here in blighty are next to nothing, but the thought of a holiday in the states checking out boats in a couple of years has always been in the back of my mind. Now to the question! Has anybody sold a boat to an overseas buyer and if so how complicated was it to arrange shipping? |
Re: shipping a boat overseas
Check these guys out, or maybe drop them a line. They specialize in shipping boats overseas.
International Boat Shipping - Ship a Boat from USA. Get Rates. Or, if the NautiDog is for sale through a dealer, they may be able to arrange overseas shipment for you. However, since it's located in Iowa, and on Ebay, I'm guessing that's not an option. At any rate, shipping it over to you WON'T be cheap, i'm guessing $2-5k USD. I would also expect some hangups, especially with CE certification. Getting a boat (built by a company no longer in business) CE certified is a bit of a process... Check out this post from MikeyT. http://www.mariahownersclub.com/foru...u-members.html It would be a great boat for you if you could afford to get it over there! :) |

Re: shipping a boat overseas
That container setup is nuts!!
No way they'd do that to my Mariah.......and mine is low budget. LOL |
Re: shipping a boat overseas
The Dockside Yacht Express looks a little rich for my blood....lol
there's always the holiday home option. as long as there's room for a big Z on the drive :D |
Re: shipping a boat overseas
with the screen removed would a big Z fit in a container on it's side if a craddle was built to carry it?

Re: shipping a boat overseas
They probably do it all the time , but boy it looks shakey to me. I can just see opening the door and rubbed thru gelcoat everywhere , or the outdrive rippd from transom.:shakehead:
Do they not have oversize containers for larger items?:oh_huh: |
Re: shipping a boat overseas
I suspect that they would have to ship it via an open low-boy trailer /oversize load to whatever port they operate from then sling it onto the deck of a cargo ship as seen in some of Chris' pics. You would think that they have a system to handle boats of this size w/out damaging them because of the potential claims and liability insurance costs. Of course.....screw ups do happen. :oh_huh:

Re: shipping a boat overseas
The thing is there are plenty of big American boats over here,
and back in the day if you had the cash I’m sure Mariah would have sold me one. So there must be an affordable way to ship something as large as a 30' boat from the states |
Re: shipping a boat overseas
That one photo shows about 12-15 large boats on the deck and depending on the design of the boat, there may be a few more in the cargo hold which would make it economical to ship boats over the pond.
